March Adventures In Europe

We joined friends on a cruise from Rome to Barcelona in March this year. It was decided it would be a celebration of birthdays for Greg, Tiffany, and Kim.

We all met in Rome after overnight flights from Denver and Dulles, respectively. After very little sleep, for me and Tiff at least, we walked around the city. Taking in the Trevi Fountain, The Forum, and the Coliseum.

The first day may have been a bit overwhelming for me in my exhaustion. It was a lot to see in one day. I think we should go back and take in the sites with a little more time dedicated to them.

The next morning we walked to Vatican City to take in the site of St. Peter’s Square. Lines were very long to get into the basilica, so we just enjoyed the morning outside in the square. Then on to ‎⁨Civita di Bagnoregio⁩ to visit the medieval village, accessible by footbridge only. It sits atop a huge stack of slowly crumbling tufa rock in the deep-cut Valle dei Calanchi.

Then back to Rome to head out to Civitavecchia to board a Windstar cruise to Barcelona. An early season Mediterranean trip with scheduled stops in Livorno, Nice, and Marseille.
