Winter Adventure In New York

We made a quick trip to New York to catch up with friends and enjoy the city. We flew overnight on a Thursday on Jet Blue from Denver. It was a quick flight, but left us very tired. Thankfully our hotel, Conrad – Downtown, offered an early checkin, and I got a 3 hour nap so we could wander around the city. It has been a while and we wanted to hit a few of our favorite spots.

After the nap, we walked up to Greenwich Village and Port Rico Importing Company to pick up some coffee beans to take home. They have a selection that can’t be beat. To cure our hunger, we stopped at Artichoke Pizza to grab a slice before heading to Washington Square Park to people watch and rest a bit. From there we walked over to Little Island to take in the views. We then wandered through Chelsea Market and stopped in at Fat Witch to grab some brownies for later.

Our friends from DC came up to meet us and have a weekend in the city. We met them at Adrienne’s Pizza Bar for a casual dinner to catch up and coordinate our plans.

Saturday we had a breakfast at our respective hotels before Greg and I met up with our friends Jason and Marcus. We headed uptown for lunch at The Long Room. Sustenance and cocktails achieved, we were ready for our matinee of Merrily We Roll Along. After the show we had dinner at an old favorite, 44&X. Then we left our friends to attend the symphony at Lincoln Center.

Sunday began with a trip to Chinatown for lunch at Noodle Village. It is always good to have a Marcus with us to order in Cantonese. It was an amazing meal.

We then wandered around the city enjoying a cold, but beautiful afternoon. We visited Chelsea Market again to pick up some more Fat Witch brownies to take home with us. Then we split off with Jason and Marcus to see Gutenberg The Musical.

Monday morning we said goodbye to Jason and Marcus, then made our way to have lunch and drinks with Kyle and Caleb, which resulted in our first trip to Flaming Saddles. A true BOGO happy hour for well drinks, and boys dancing on the bar; how can that not be fun.
